Grounded in Gratitude — Day 1

The things you like about yourself

Today, during our first week that focuses on you, take the time to identify and cherish what you’re most thankful for when it comes to yourself. What are you good at? What traits or quirky qualities do you like best about yourself? And how can you nurture them?

Your thoughts, feelings, and experiences are what make you, you. So today, make a point to appreciate your unique way of seeing the world. Above all, talk to yourself the way you would talk to someone you love and care about.

Your action prompt today is to write down 10 things that you like about yourself (yes, 10). Keep this list handy for future reference. Then choose one of the things on your list and think of a way to celebrate it. Are you thankful for your wacky sense of humor? Then watch a favorite film that makes you belly laugh, reveling in the joy of being you! Are you a foodie? Take yourself to a fancy restaurant you’ve been dying to go to—even if it’s a bit pricey.

Like any habit, cultivating self-thankfulness takes time and consistent effort.
There will be days when it's harder to feel thankful. Be patient and understanding with yourself. And if you already are, that’s one more thing to be thankful for!
