Grounded in Gratitude — Day 15

Soul Satisfaction

The arts are not a luxury.
They are a necessity.
There. I said it.

It's crucial to support the arts for a multitude of interconnected reasons that enrich individuals, communities, and society as a whole.

Engaging with art—whether creating, experiencing, or simply appreciating it—can evoke a wide range of emotions, providing outlets for personal expression and the processing of feelings.

The arts spark imagination, encourage experimentation, and cultivate creative thinking. Art can offer new perspectives, challenge assumptions, and encourage introspection that leads to personal growth and a deeper understanding of oneself and the world.

Studies show that involvement in the arts can improve problem-solving skills and even academic performance. On a broader scale, the arts reflect and shape cultural values, traditions, and identities. Supporting them ensures the preservation and evolution of our shared cultural heritage.

Art can bridge divides, engender empathy, and promote understanding between different cultures and perspectives. The arts even contribute to the economy through job creation, tourism, and revenue generation for local businesses, all of which helps society thrive.

Your action prompt today is to find an arts organization and choose a program to get involved with. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention our own 501c3 arts philanthropy, Whimsicalitea. As a multi-faceted philanthropy, chances are we offer something that resonates with a part of you.
"At Whimsicalitea, we believe that for society to be well-rounded and truly thrive, it needs creativity, connection, and compassion for others, including animals. That’s why we empower artists to share their gifts, we provide ground-breaking educational opportunities for families, and we support children and animal welfare in a way that enables all ages to feel they are making a difference. Our whimsical programs make philanthropy fun and learning a joy."
